How To Work Better, Tate style

Today I was sneaking around behind the scenes at the Tate Modern London. I saw the following etched on a wall for the employees beginning their day.

How To Work Better

  1. Do one thing at a time
  2. Know the problem
  3. Learn to listen
  4. Learn to ask questions
  5. Distinguish sense from nonsense
  6. Accept change as inevitable
  7. Admit mistakes
  8. Say it simple
  9. Be calm
  10. Smile

It was spray painted on, which I guess is the modern art equivalent of a granite engraving.

    “Accept change as inevitable”

And I thought one ought to seek change rather than merely accepting it coming. But I’m just weird.

@knipknap: Seeking and accepting are just phases of any life phenomena. For me, seeking precedes accomplishment, which is followed by acceptance, which fades to ignorance, whereupon a sense of lacking appears, then it loops again from the beginning.

This is an interesting interpretation for street art!

    I love this list!

I would only add “when you don’t know, say so.”
